Stop meth, not meds.
This is utterly ridiculous:
Senate Enrolled Act 80 requires a customer who wishes to purchase products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, the key ingredients to making meth, to be a patient of record with the pharmacy where they are purchasing the medicine.
While exceptions can be made due to the pharmacist's professional judgment, most pharmacies are not going to go through the hassle and are going to either require a doctor's prescription or simply turn the customer away.
Once again, we are punishing the innocent for the crimes of the guilty.
Remember, 80% of meth in Indiana comes from Mexico. If we completely eliminated every single meth lab in the state and prevented any new ones from popping up, we would only eliminate 1/5 of the problem - and only temporarily until Mexican drug cartels ramp up production and delivery to meet the demand.
