"Sola Scriptura" should be the commitment of every Christian
The Bible is never "wrong." Sinful men and women are very frequently wrong.
A decade ago, a "church" decided to be cute with memes, saying that the Bible is "occasionally wrong." Looking at the denomination's Facebook page, it is clear that one place where the "church" views the Bible as "wrong" is Romans 1.
For all of church history, orthodox Christians have viewed the Bible as the inerrant, inspired Word of God. The Bible existed in the New Testament, as we see by how often the Lord Jesus Christ says "it is written" during His ministry. God's people even had Scripture in the Old Testament, as we can see when "it is written" is repeated in Daniel 9:13, Nehemiah 10:34-36, Ezra 6:18, Ezra 3:2, 2 Chronicles 35:12, 2 Chronicles 31:3, 1 Kings 2:3 and Joshua 8:31.
The immediate response we should expect is an accusation of "Bibliolatry." We should worship God, not a book. This is obviously true. We do not pray to Scripture. We pray to God in Jesus' name. But we also recognize that Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit, as we see in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. The only way to truly know God, and the only way to truly know His will, is to consult His Word. Scripture is the standard by which we should judge whether worship or doctrine is true.
(With that said, of course there are areas where sincere Christians disagree on the interpretation of Scripture, and how to correctly apply Biblical principles in how we live. We should have charity in these disagreements, and that is not the same as saying the Bible is "wrong.")
So what is really going on here? When you claim the Bible is "occasionally wrong," what you are really doing is setting yourself up as God. The Word of God does not decide moral standards or our obligations to Him or our fellow man. YOU do. You are wiser than the Holy Spirit, after all, and you can determine where the Bible is "wrong" and you are right. This is blasphemy and heresy, and goes back to the very first sin ever committed - seeking to be equal with God by consuming the forbidden fruit.
Brothers and sisters, do not follow this damnable path. Do not be so arrogant that you think you are wiser than God or two thousand years of church history. You are not wiser or more knowledgeable than the Creator of the Universe and the wisdom He gives us in His Word. Submit yourself to His word, and submit to the authority of a local (non-heretical) church to feed you from the Word. You show you love God by submitting to His Word.
