Christians should hate the things that God hates
We were never supposed to die, but to commune with God forever. That is how it will be when Jesus Christ establishes His eternal kingdom.
It is easy for Christians to think of a Believer's death as a glorious occasion because he or she will go to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Of course, this is true. The joy our dead loved one experiences in Heaven is simply unbelievable, and that is a great comfort to us as we grieve. We should not, however, be pollyannish about death. We should not lose sight of the fact that death is an enemy and that God will destroy death in the last days. Death is the last enemy that will be overthrown.
Watching people die - slowly or suddenly - is not how the world was supposed to work. We were never supposed to die, but to commune with God forever. That is how it will be when Jesus Christ establishes His eternal kingdom. We will never lose anyone ever again. We will never attend another funeral, or watch someone slowly waste away due to cancer.
Our sin brought death into this world. Because of our sin, we all live under the penalty of death. We will all die, and our bodies will rot. But it was our sin and rebellion that brought death. (The Bible says that the wages of sin is death.) When God abolishes sin and we are glorified, death will also be destroyed.
We need to love the good and pure things that God loves, but we also need to hate the things that God hates. That means we should hate death. We should treat death as an enemy to fight against, and never embrace. We should also hate and work to mortify our sin, which brought the death penalty upon us to begin with.
