Democrats go all-in on defending infanticide
I am pro-life, but I understand the arguments for allowing legalized abortion: The integrity of the woman's body, her choice to seek "medical care" and so forth. But not one of those arguments can be used to defend the Democrats in the U.S. Senate who voted to block legislation preventing newborn babies from being murdered.
Basically, the bill would mandate that if an abortion fails to kill a fetus and the baby is born alive, medical professionals on the scene are required to provide life-saving medical care to that baby. The mother no more has the right to "choose" infanticide in this case than if she carried a pregnancy for 40 weeks, gave birth to a healthy baby and then an hour later decided to allow the baby to be abandoned to die of starvation and dehydration. A parent's right to direct the medical care for a child has limits, and the state has a legitimate interest in protecting basic human rights.
What the Senate Democrats proved is that their "pro-choice" stance is not about protecting abortion rights at all. The goal is a dead baby, and it does not matter whether that life is ended in the womb or after birth. The goal is to protect total liberation from the responsibilities of parenthood. Democrats in the Senate are so radically pro-abortion that drawing a line after birth is something they cannot allow, because drawing any line would admit that the baby is a human being with human rights.
Blocking the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act did not do one single thing to protect the "right to choose" abortion. There is no justifiable philosophical, moral, or legal reasoning to stop this bill from advancing. When people ask how any pro-life Christian could vote for Donald Trump given his personal history and continued childish and vindictive behavior, all we have to do is point to the Democrats in the Senate and the fact that all of the Democrats running for President would support this wicked behavior. Democrats themselves have made the choice to reject them a whole lot easier.
