Double standards and porn: Shameful behavior by Facebook
I do not, cannot and will never respect open dishonesty and hypocrisy used to enforce phantom "rules" that apply only to me and no one else.
Porn spam is totally out of control on Facebook. I get multiple notifications each week from porn spambots on Facebook tagging me in posts. I block and report them every single time, but the harassment and spam continues. Meanwhile, Facebook has been continually harassing me and deleting my posts, fraudulently claiming that sharing my articles on my own page - something every other news and commentary page on Facebook does multiple times a day - is "spam." Instead of harassing and lying about me, Facebook should be cracking down on porn spambots.
I set up my Facebook page on October 29, 2010 as a way to share and promote pages from this blog. I followed in the footsteps of tens of thousands of other pages, from mainstream media sites like the New York Times and the Washington Post to more ideologically-oriented sites like Slate, Salon and The Blaze. There is nothing in Facebook's so-called "rules" preventing these pages from sharing their content on the world's largest social media site, and for 13 years I never had a single problem with sharing content from my blog - until May 2024.
That is when Facebook, in a so-called "standard" that applies only to me and not to anyone else, decided that sharing my blog posts is "spam." The posts are deleted immediately by Facebook's AI software, so no human could possibly be looking at them before they are deleted and I am fraudulently accused of "spam." But if my posts are "spam," then every other news and commentary website - from the national mainstream media to small-time blogs - violates Facebook's so-called "rules" millions of times every single day.
We need to be 100% perfectly clear about why this is happening: This is an effort to censor conservative voices leading into the 2024 election. Facebook was (falsely) blamed for getting Donald Trump elected in 2016 and threatened with government regulations multiple times by Democratic elected officials such as Elizabeth Warren. The 2024 censorship regime is just getting started, and you better believe it will get much worse before November.
Facebook is a private company. They can delete or not delete whatever content they wish. But openly lying to their users is never acceptable. If Facebook was honest and told me I was no longer allowed to share my blog posts on the social network, I would be unhappy but I could at least respect the integrity it takes to be blunt. What I do not, cannot and will never respect is open dishonesty and hypocrisy, and fraudulent accusations of breaking so-called "rules" that apply only to me and not anyone else.
