In yesterday’s post, I criticized the "all or nothing" mentality that is poisoning our politics. Let me give another example.
Three years ago, I wrote a letter to the editor criticizing the national mask mandate on city buses, and argued the Biden regime had no authority to implement this mandate. I said city government should either decline to enforce the mandate, or that they should pass a local mask mandate for city buses and enforce that instead. I was not taking a pro-mask or anti-mask position, but a federalist position.
I was fraudulently accused of taking an anti-mask position anyway, despite the fact that I offered a policy solution to keep the mask mandate while preserving local government’s authority over local public transit.
