I fully condemn lions and tigers and bears. Oh my!
At the core of earth worship is rebellion against God - an inversion of the creation order.
Extreme veganism is a religion. Sometimes, as with the arson at Sims Poultry here in Bloomington in 2002 and vandalism in 1993, that religion can lead to violence. Sometimes, it is worse than destruction of property, as with the brutal beating of an official at Huntingdon Life Sciences in the United Kingdom.
The Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, warns against this pagan religion that caused people to worship "the creature more than the Creator, Who is blessed for ever."
Romans 1:22-23
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
The New York Times reports on "animal rights" activists even trying to censor movies. This is nothing new, as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals attacked Nintendo for the treatment of totally fictional creatures in Pokemon games and power-ups used by Mario in various platformers starring the mustachioed former plumber. My favorite quote from the article:
"People might think a glass of milk is innocuous," she said. "It's not. It's full of violence."
There is also this:
A serious-seeming woman, she remains a fervent wearer of face masks indoors to avoid contracting and spreading Covid-19.
Of course she does.
In 30 years of observing the "animal rights" movement, I have never encountered a coherent answer to this question: If it is "immoral" for man to consume meat, then why is it not immoral for animals to consume each other? Nature runs red with the blood of animals killed by each other. Why is it not "immoral" for Beagles to hunt rabbits or for cats to hunt mice and birds? What about the animals killed by lions and tigers and bears? (Oh my!) Why is man the only species with moral restrictions? It makes no sense unless it is a commandment from the "goddess."
There are days where I consume no meat. Some of my favorite dishes are vegetarian. If someone chooses not to consume meat or dairy, that is his decision. It is another thing entirely to try to force someone else to adopt the same diet, or to condemn movies and video games for the heresy they promote against the demon Gaia. And make no mistake: That is exactly what this is. It is not enough to not eat meat or encourage others to not eat meat. Movies and video games that depict meat eating (or the harm of creatures that do not even exist) are bad and should be shamed for their heresy.
At the core of earth worship is rebellion against God - an inversion of the creation order. God commanded man in the book of Genesis to have dominion over all of the earth. God's first action after the Fall of Man was to kill animals for clothing. The Old Testament law explicitly allows for meat to be consumed, and the Lord Jesus Christ removed all restrictions on eating "unclean" animals when He sent a vision to the Apostle Peter. This is why Pastor Tim Bayly wrote on his social media pages that sitting on leather is a way to "confess Christian faith."
There is nothing inherently wrong with environmentalism or caring for animal welfare. We can have dominion over the earth and be good stewards of the world God has given us. Earth worship, however, is both a rebellion against God and a judgment of God. Repent of worshiping Gaia and instead worship the One True God.
