Lindsay Clancy needs to be hanged by the neck until dead. She does not deserve to live on this planet any more. She strangled a five year old, a three year old and an eight month old baby to death with exercise bands. They had no opportunity to escape or defend themselves. She methodically planned the murders and sent her husband on errands so he would not be present to defend his children. She knew exactly what she was doing.
With that said, do you know it is actually possible to sympathize with someone who is suffering from depression and other mental health problems, exacerbated by significant hormonal changes brought on by the end of pregnancy, without excusing the brutal murder of three children? Have any of the people showing their "love" for this truly evil woman spared any time to send cards and letters or make TikTok videos expressing sympathy for the father who discovered his children brutally murdered by their own mother? Or the grandparents, for that matter?
Furthermore, just because someone has sympathy for someone with mental health challenges does not mean that they sympathize with or excuse horrible violence and murder, especially against children. I am seeing some on the Right literally damn other conservatives to Hell for having sympathy, including those who have fought for the lives and safety of children for decades. It seems that we simply cannot wait to condemn someone on our own side for not being sufficiently conservative, and we love to jump on every opportunity to assert our dominance over them. Social media has made this exponentially worse when the pile-on happens.
It gets worse. Idiots on social media are spreading deranged QAnon level conspiracy theories that Lindsay Clancy did not actually murder her children, and that her husband is the guilty party. I know I say this on a daily basis at this point, but this is what a cult looks like. If you think Patrick Clancy murdered those children, you are part of a cult. This is what religious fanaticism looks like. Neither Lindsay Clancy's defense attorneys nor Clancy herself have ever disputed the facts of the case or her actions. You need to repent of spreading these lies, remembering the judgment God has promised for you in Revelation 21:8. You also need to have a little human decency by not accusing an innocent man of murder and adding to the trauma of losing his children.
We should not overcorrect by denying that postpartum depression exists, or foolishly dismiss it as "selfishness." Postpartum depression does exist, and it is fairly common. Denying the lived reality of many women will cause people who can be reached to shut down, ignore your arguments and then dismiss your arguments on a myriad of other issues, no matter how good your logic or facts may be. Postpartum psychosis (which Lindsay Clancy claims she had) is a distinct condition from postpartum depression, and is much more rare. Both are real and documented.
I do not sympathize with Lindsay Clancy. I am far too busy sympathizing with the children she viciously and brutally murdered to sympathize with her. I am far too busy sympathizing with the father who discovered the brutalized bodies of his own children to sympathize with the murderer. Lindsay Clancy knowingly and intentionally gave up all sympathy when she strangled her children to death. The only thing I want for her is the hangman's noose - which, tragically, she will never get.
