Mayor de Blasio puts politics over caring for the sick
This is an open letter to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, sent on April 3, 2020.
Mayor de Blasio,
I have one very simple question to ask you: What is wrong with you?
When Samaritan's Purse set up a clinic in your city to deal with COVID-19, a normal person's reaction would have been one of gratitude and relief. Now more people with the novel coronavirus will be cared for and treated, easing the burden on your hospitals. You repeatedly (and very publicly) warned that hospitals could be overwhelmed, so this is a help to the hospital staff and to potential victims.
But you are obviously not a normal person. You decided that you needed to play politics and please your radical Leftist base by viciously attacking and lying about the people risking their own health, and their lives, to care for people who need help. You screeched that you would be "monitoring" the clinics so that these Christians would not be "discriminating" against anyone.
Mayor de Blasio, you are a liar. You have absolutely no evidence that Samaritan's Purse would be discriminating against anyone. Some would say that you are acting out of hatred for Christians, but your real motivation is far worse. You are cynically exploiting an international crisis and deadly pandemic - a pandemic that is killing many of your own constituents - to whip up your radical Leftist base, gain praise from the mainstream news media and increase your national notoriety. It is shameful that you would smear and defame those who you know are doing good at great personal risk for your own selfish political agenda.
This is not the time to play politics. This is the time to work together for the good of everyone not only in New York City, but across the entire world. Falsely accusing a Christian charity of "discrimination" demonstrates you are not qualified to lead New York City or anything else. You should immediately resign from your position and apologize for your lies and fabrications.
