When you read II Kings 19, the book of Jonah takes on a whole new meaning.

The reason Jonah did not want to warn Ninevah of God’s impending judgment is because Ninevah was the capital of Assyria, which brutally oppressed Israel and attempted to destroy Judah.

Jonah wanted to see Ninevah destroyed and he was angry when God spared the city.
