Revenge of the Normies II: Normies in Paradise
The craziness of some Leftist agitators has done nothing but reassure millions of Trump voters that they made the right decision.
President Donald Trump's victory in 2024 was "The Revenge of The Normies." After a number of radical Leftist policies were pursued by Democrats, and totally unhinged behavior by a number of Leftist agitators, people reacted by voting for Donald Trump. Unlike 2016, where Trump won the election but lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, Trump won the popular vote by 2 million votes. Kamala Harris won California by a significantly smaller margin than Hillary Clinton despite the fact (or maybe because of the fact) that she was a former Attorney General and U.S. Senator from the Golden State.
The craziness of some Leftist agitators has done nothing but reassure millions of Trump voters that they made the right decision. Conservatives who disdained electric cars just six months ago are now warming to Tesla because of Leftist terrorists firebombing Tesla dealerships, harassing Tesla owners, and vandalizing or destroying Teslas owned by private citizens. Now would be a good time for Democrats and Leftists to show a united front against this behavior, right? Wrong.
The most common reply is to invoke January 6, which is the equivalent of a petulant child whining "He did it tooooooooooooo!! Waah!! He did it tooooooooooooo!! Waah!! Waah!! Honestly, people should be embarrassed to use this truly pathetic whataboutism in defense of destruction of private property and menacing private citizens. You do realize that firefighters' lives are put in danger by responding to these arsons, right? Plus, resources stretched thin by arson means there may not be emergency responders available to deal with other fires and emergencies. But that is far less important than tantrum-throwing spoiled children responding to someone cutting government spending.
Democrats, all you have to do to oppose Trump is stop being crazy. Democrats effectively opposed Republican "spending cuts" in 1995 and 1996, which helped re-elect President Clinton and contributed to Republicans going from 230 seats to 226 seats. (They were not actually "cuts," but reductions in the rate of growth of government spending.) You can make a policy case for retaining some of the spending cut by Trump. But every time you defend violence, arson and terrorism, you are making the case for Trump.
