School dress codes
Boys and girls are fundamentally different. This is why most sane people throughout history have understood that clothing for men and women are different.
It is profoundly selfish to join a voluntary organization and then demand that the organization change to accommodate you. That is what we are seeing with a lawsuit against a charter school's standards for girls.
We have a tax-funded public school system already, where children and teens are guaranteed a spot. For those seeking something different, one option is charter schools: Tax-funded fully public schools that operate with fewer restrictions from the state and more freedom to operate as they see fit. No one is forced to attend a charter school, as they can stay in their local public school. Both parents and students know what the standards are before they go there and freely choose the charter school anyway.
So what exactly is the problem with a charter school's dress code? It is "unfair" and it "discriminates" against girls - despite the fact that the families knew the standard before they went there and freely chose to abide by that standard by virtue of enrolling in the charter. So rather than go back to the public school system, they seek to destroy the standards established by the school they willingly chose - a standard that seeks "to preserve chivalry and respect among young women and men."
I am going to tell you a secret. Men and women are fundamentally different. Boys and girls are fundamentally different. This is why most sane people throughout history have understood that clothing for men and women are different. Cultural preferences for dress have changed and those preferences vary culture to culture, but the difference between male and female is something that people used to understand. But we live in a society of snowflakes who cry anytime there are any distinctions at all. It is pathetic and anti-logical.
Here is the solution: Examine a charter school's standards and educational methods. If you do not like or agree with the school's policy, do not send your children there. Do not barge in and selfishly demand things be done your way. See? The problem has been solved.
