Planned Parenthood's greed for other people's money knows no end. Their determination to turn social services funding votes into a political charade is not limited to city government, either. That is why they are also applying for an additional handout (an an additional political endorsement) from the Monroe County Council.

Here are some important dates, via Christian Citizens for Life:

Monday, August 1 at Noon -- Application Deadline

Monday, August 15, at 6:00 p.m. -- Applicants give a three minute presentation on their request

Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. -- The county council considers and votes on the list of applications.

Of the list of criteria, the most glaring (as it was with the city council's vote on June 15) is that "support for basic operational expenses will be considered, but will not be given highest priority." This is key because Planned Parenthood has already announced their intentions to apply for money for operational expenses before the process even started. Planned Parenthood announced this in their application to the city.

This vote is of interest not only to Monroe County, but all of Indiana's Ninth Congressional District. Shelli Yoder is running for Congress in a heavily Republican district, against newcomer Trey Hollingsworth. She cannot win this race without moving some Republicans into her column, as well as capturing conservative independents. How exactly is she going to do that when she is voting to give taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood - money Planned Parenthood does not need and is seeking only for a political endorsement from the county council?

You may recall the county council's underhanded, cowardly scheme last summer to fast-track the vote to hide it from the public. Shelli Yoder had no objection to this dishonesty and voted to give a handout to an abortion mill. This is a woman who wants to be a Congresswoman. Don't we have enough corruption in Washington D.C. without sending someone to the House with a history of shady dealings to hide votes from the public? Last year's shameful episode was just a county council vote. Do we really want to give someone like Yoder access to a much more powerful position by sending her to Congress, given her lack of ethics?

I hope the Hollingsworth campaign, the NRCC, and Indiana Right to Life are closely watching this process and will educate voters about Yoder's behavior over the next couple months.
