The City Council should not fund Planned Parenthood
This is not about need. This is about a political endorsement from city government.
This is the text of the speech I planned to deliver to the Bloomington City Council on June 10. As the meeting passed three and a half hours, I gave up and went to sleep.
I am once again standing up to oppose funding for Planned Parenthood through the city's social services fund. As is the case every year, this request is not for money Planned Parenthood "needs." There is plenty of money floating around the larger Planned Parenthood great northwest, Hawaii, Kentucky and Indiana conglomerate. Of course, the broader national Planned Parenthood with all affiliates is an obscenely wealthy corporation. The thousands of dollars Planned Parenthood wants could do much more good for a truly local charitable organization, instead of them getting yet another political endorsement from city government.
Last October, a member of this City Council claimed at a Monroe County Council meeting that the city did not fund "gender affirming hormones," despite the fact that this was clearly part of Planned Parenthood's application for funds and they got the entire $7500 they were requesting. The people of Bloomington deserve better than to be fed false information by the people we entrust with our tax dollars and legislative authority.
This year, Planned Parenthood is once again requesting money for "gender affirming hormones." When God created man, He created us male and female, and city government should not spend tax money in rebellion against His design. We should have compassion on people with gender dysphoria, but the answer is not to substantially disrupt the natural hormonal balance in order to conform to a psychological delusion that does not match the anatomical or genetic reality of the body. If this anti-compassionate medical treatment is to be funded, it should not be funded with property tax dollars.
This organization, which exterminated thousands of innocent unborn lives at their South College facility until they were finally stopped by state government, and would continue killing babies for money if it was not illegal, should never get another penny of our property tax dollars. Please vote down this request and find a more deserving organization to fund instead.
