The dangerous normalization of political violence
Words and opinions are not a threat to your safety. This hoax must be destroyed and the people spreading this lie must be totally discredited.
When Charlie Kirk was viciously murdered by a homosexual furry in September, it was the ultimate expression of the “snowflake” mentality that gives us “trigger warnings” for potentially “offensive” material in college classes and “safe spaces” for students who are angered by a speech given by a conservative somewhere on campus. We have many “students” telling us that the words and opinions of other people make them “feel unsafe.”
The reality is very different. Words are not a threat to anyone’s “safety.” That is a fraud and a hoax, and is dangerous. When you tell mentally disturbed people that words are a threat to their “safety,” some of them will take you literally and attempt to protect themselves by any means necessary. It is a basic human instinct, and universal through all of nature, that violence is sometimes necessary to defend your safety. That is why a bee will sting you if you step on it. When you spread the lie that words and opinions threaten someone’s “safety,” you are creating an environment that encourages violence and murder.
The threats of violence extend beyond “offensive” words and opinions, to journalism. The Left has long hated investigative journalists on the Right, from Lila Rose’s investigations of Planned Parenthood to David Daleiden’s work with the Center for Medical Progress exposing Planned Parenthood selling baby parts. Now, a Leftist “journalist” working for Politico is openly threatening amateur journalists who are investigating alleged fraud at Somali-owned daycares in Minnesota:
At some point, the amateur effort to knock on doors of home daycares intersects with robust stand-your-ground laws
A journalist knocking on the door of a business is not a “threat” to anyone, much less a threat to life justifying use of lethal force. Josh Gerstein knows this. His Tweet was a feeble attempt to intimidate competitors who are doing his job for him, and creating a political headache for Democrats in the process. Again, this is perpetuating the hoax that investigative journalism is a threat to “safety.” Now imagine if a conservative said something like this about investigative journalism from the Left - especially after Democrats have wailed about the “threat” that President Trump allegedly represents for the “fourth estate.” Had that happened in 2023, President Biden would have unleashed the full force of the federal government against this threat.
We live in a dangerous time. Too many people are increasingly intolerant of any opinions they dislike. Instead of making an argument like rational adults, the people pushing the “safety” hoax instead advocate censorship, violence and even murder. But the risk of political violence is only one part of the danger. As this hoax spreads and people become increasingly paranoid about words and opinions, do not think the First Amendment will protect you against government censorship. Politicians will use the hoax of a “credible threat to safety” to imprison and otherwise punish people who have opinions that are not politically correct. We must fight back against this hoax and thoroughly discredit anyone spreading these malicious and dangerous lies.
