After notorious serial murderer and serial rapist Ted Bundy escaped from custody in December 1977, he murdered one woman, raped and murdered another, and then raped and murdered a child. Had he been hanged by the neck until dead before his escape, those rapes and murders (as well as other brutally violent assaults) would never have happened. There are a number of rapes and murders inside of our prisons that would be prevented by exterminating murderers soon after conviction.
The death penalty is pro-life. By exterminating vicious murderers, we protect the lives and bodies of other prisoners, prison guards, and the general public. Dead murderers cannot rape and murder anyone else. The death penalty is also pro-life because it shows we value life so much that when someone unjustly and intentionally ends the life of an innocent person, we must enact the harshest penalty possible. Someone who commits murder has willingly and intentionally surrendered his or her right to life.
The death penalty is pro-life because it honors and respects the Creator of life who made man (male and female) in His own image. God tells us in the book of Genesis that the death penalty is required - not optional - because it is a direct assault on His image in man. We exterminate murderers not because we hate them or because we have bloodlust (although anger at horrific crimes is a justified and God-given emotion) but because we love God and we submit to His will.
When the Bible commanded death in the Old Testament, it was not something done in secret. Executions were public to show the world how very seriously society and God takes severe crimes, and to serve as a deterrent to people who might be tempted to commit the same crimes. We want would-be murderers to feel terror at the thought of facing the same humiliating public death. When an adult woman is allowed to live to be 278% older than she was at the time of an especially heinous crime, that deterrence factor is eviscerated.
We live in a society poisoned by toxic empathy. We have so many warm feelings toward violent criminals that we put innocent people at risk of rape and murder. We have seen this from Willie Horton to Decarlos Brown. The lawless rebels in our criminal “justice” system that allow violent predators to roam free are actually worse than the criminals themselves and have abandoned and betrayed the authority given to them by Almighty God to protect those under their care. We need to stop having empathy and compassion for violent predators, and start having empathy and compassion for victims.
