The radical Left is Donald Trump's best friend
The entire argument for Trump in the Republican nomination contest in 2015 and 2016, over much more qualified competition, was "at least he fights."
When Mike Sington (a former Senior Executive at NBC Universal) posted an image on X declaring Barron Trump "fair game" on his 18th birthday, he made an enormous in-kind contribution to Donald Trump's campaign for President. People like Sington have contributed to Trump's popularity more than anything Trump himself has done. I cannot link to Sington's post, because he deleted it. A screenshot is below.
Barron Trump turned 18 on March 20. While he is technically a "legal adult" now, he is a high school senior. A former high executive in one of the biggest media companies on Earth blasted to his 133,000 followers that he intends to target and viciously attack a high school senior. This is not because the teenager has done anything wrong, but because this bully hates the high school student's father.
This, my dear readers, is how we got Trump as President in the first place. This is why Trump is the leader of the Republican Party and why so many rank-and-file Republicans (and many more who would not call themselves Republicans) are fiercely loyal to Trump. The radical Left has been nasty and hateful for decades, and it has gotten worse over the last eight years. The entire argument for Trump in the Republican nomination contest in 2015 and 2016, over much more qualified competition, was "at least he fights."
I have often criticized the rhetorical excesses of Trump fans, including having an effigy of President Biden people can punch and kick, or chanting the F word at the President of these United States. But this behavior does not happen in a vacuum. It is, to a large degree, a response to Leftist aggression in the culture war. This does not excuse the excesses of "MAGA," of course, but we should stop pretending the radical Left is innocent. They are not.
Sington may get praise from the most hateful Leftists, but he is not convincing anyone. The only people who love Sington's perverse behavior are people who are already willing to belly crawl across rusty nails and broken glass to vote against Trump. Sington only managed to motivate Trump's supporters, push wavering voters concerned about Leftist excesses to Trump, and turn off persuadable moderates. Targeting an innocent high school student for destruction is not just morally depraved, it is politically suicidal.
