The tantrum-throwing spoiled child in the White House
Americans deserve better than a President who is so weak and effeminate that he explodes with anger at any disagreement
One of the features of a cult leader is that he cannot abide disagreement, especially from "his" people. He demands absolute, complete and total loyalty, and you are not allowed to question his judgment. It is impossible to disagree on principle with a cult leader. You must hate him personally, or perhaps you even hate your country. This is how President Trump views the world.
No, as I have said many times before, this does not mean that every single person who voted for Trump are part of a cult. The vast majority are not. But Trump does behave like a cult leader who demands total submission to his will. If you disagree, you are not someone who holds a different opinion or even someone who is wrong. You are a bad person, and you have malicious motives.
The United States Constitution establishes taxing authority in Congress, not the executive branch. Generations ago, Congress abdicated its authority to the President, and has been increasingly abdicating its authority to Presidents of both parties who have been more than willing to accept increased power. Remember, President Obama said he could govern unilaterally with "a pen and a phone" when Congress did not obey his commands. The same Republicans who correctly excoriated Obama for his authoritarian rhetoric have no problem with Trump behaving as Obama Junior.
President Trump asks of the decision to overturn the tariffs he implemented without consent of Congress:
Is it purely a hatred of “TRUMP?” What other reason could it be?
No, the court read the Constitution and concluded what many people (including me) have been saying for years. Trump, like Obama before him, is unwilling (and perhaps unable) to refute the decision on its legal merits. Instead, (in addition to personally attacking the judges) he argues they are wrong on policy. But courts do not set policy. They interpret the law. Even assuming Trump is right on policy, it does not matter in the context of the law.
Trump worked to win over skeptical conservatives in 2016, and one way to do that was to promise to appoint originalist judges to the Supreme Court and lower courts. He did, and many of them are ruling exactly as promised. But when this runs afoul of Trump's policy agenda, he throws a tantrum, saying the Federalist Society judges are:
under the thumb of a real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America,
It cannot be that Leo is an originalist who holds the same principles that conservative Republicans have held for generations, principles that have thankfully led the Supreme Court (including Trump-appointed justices) to reconsider the Chevron Doctrine that enabled un-elected federal bureaucrats to write "regulations" with the force of law. No, he must be a "sleazebag" and an America-hating traitor. This is not an argument. This is the President of the United States stomping his feet like a child.
In this case, it is only because of my successful use of Tariffs that many Trillions of Dollars have already begun pouring into the U.S.A. from other Countries
This is a lie. Not only that, it is a completely nonsensical lie. We are not getting anywhere near close to "trillions" from tariffs, much less over the course of the last four and a half months. As I pointed out last summer, tariffs make up 1.5% of total federal revenue. It has not gone up that much under Trump.
The horrific decision stated that I would have to get the approval of Congress for these Tariffs. In other words, hundreds of politicians would sit around D.C. for weeks, and even months, trying to come to a conclusion as to what to charge other Countries that are treating us unfairly.
Yes, that is now the legislative process works, as laid out in the Constitution. Duh. Trump obviously does not like that, and thinks he should have the unilateral authority to do whatever he wants. But if Trump really does believe in the tariffs, he should want them passed into law rather than implemented by executive order. The next President can reverse the tariffs at 12:01 p.m. on January 20, 2029, but getting that through Congress would take longer and be more difficult.
On large swaths of policy, Trump has been good in both his first and second terms as President. The justices recommended by the Federalist Society ended the wicked regime of Roe v. Wade three years ago. The biggest problem with Donald Trump has always been his character. Rather than address the arguments presented, Trump is compelled to make everything a personal slight against him. He posts unhinged rants instead of reasoned arguments, whipping up his fanboys to direct obscene rants and death threats against "Trump haters."
This is not how the President of the United States should behave. The President should not be so brittle that he throws tantrums when "his judges" disagree with him on constitutional grounds. Far from being "manly," as MAGA supporters love to claim about Trump, this behavior is extremely weak and effeminate. We did not elect a "man" in 2024. We elected a tantrum-throwing spoiled child. Trump's vindictiveness and personal hatred to people who have the audacity to disagree with him on policy shows an extreme lack of maturity, demonstrating that any description of him as "statesmanlike" is utterly absurd. Tantrums like this confirm my principled decision to refuse to vote for Trump.
