We need to kill the obsession with celebrity
Let the Democrats have Hollyweird. Republicans do not need them and have never needed them.
The entertainment industry has been dominated by Democrats for generations. Actors, models and musicians have thrown their support to Democrats, with only a few supporting Republicans. It is understandable, if shallow, when Republicans show off the few celebrities in the GOP. But just because something is understandable does not make it right - especially when Republicans are fawning over celebrities who hate us and openly wish for us to die a slow, painful death.
Nobody should care if a celebrity endorses Republicans. What we should care about is how Republicans will cut our taxes, reduce harmful regulations that raise prices and restrict our private property rights, protect the unborn and build a strong America First foreign policy. Obsessing over celebrities also runs directly counter to the populist narrative the Republican Party has tried to establish over the last eight years, where the party represents the common man while Democrats are the party of the elites.
One of the featured speakers at the Republican National Convention was Terry Bollea, who played Hulk Hogan in WWE and WCW. What exactly has Bollea done in the political arena to merit a national prime-time speech at a major party's convention? There are many rising young stars in the Republican Party who could have been featured, highlighting the work they are doing to advance a conservative agenda. If Republicans must have a former professional wrestler speak, why not give the spot to Glenn Jacobs, the elected mayor of Knox County, Tennessee? Unlike Bollea, Jacobs has actually demonstrated a command of public policy.
Bollea, for his foibles, is not a prostitute. That would be Amber Rose, an OnlyFans "star" who sells her body online. (This was after President Trump pledged to better enforce laws regulating "adult" material.) Republican simps whined that we need to expand the voting base and connect with "young people." Can you imagine George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan inviting a prostitute to speak at the RNC? Can you imagine anything like this happening before 2015?
This is not who Republicans should be. Republicans need to present a better path for Americans, focused on policy and making people's lives better. It is estimated that the average American commits at least one felony every single day without even knowing it because of our thicket of laws and regulations. How about we talk about that, and how it represents a clear and present danger to our very lives? Why not devote the a very scarce speaking slot to that, instead of a porn star?
We have very serious problems with illegal immigration, foreign terrorists, inflation, economic stagnation and many other things. What we need is not to elevate a porn star or a former professional wrestler. What we need is to be a serious party who takes policy seriously, presenting concrete solutions for the problems real people face every day and the threats to our nation. Let the Democrats have Hollyweird. We do not need them, have never needed them, and we far too often beclown ourselves by latching on to mentally unstable people. We need to be the party of adults, not adult films.
