A crime punishable by DEATH!!!
President Trump has no rule over his own spirit, so he is like a city that is broken down and without walls.
When President Trump was banned from Twitter (now X) in January 2021, it was the best thing that ever happened to him. Trump’s unhinged railing about whatever was on his mind had become a distraction and a drag on his presidency, and contributed to him losing the 2020 election as voters were exhausted at the constant drama. Trump would be much better off today had he stayed off social media completely.
A couple weeks ago the White House was forced to issue a statement that Trump does not actually want to execute members of Congress. This is because the President of these United States had posted an angry rant on his social media platform calling for Democrats who recorded a fairly benign video to be locked up or executed for “sedition.”
The Democratic lawmakers in question had decided to parade their virtue by reminding the military that they are allowed to disobey an “illegal” order. People in the military already know this, and it has been a boringly normal part of the military for generations, so it was an advertisement designed with one person in mind: President Trump. They knew he would react angrily, and he did.
The problem with railing on social media is twofold: Reacting in anger without a filter makes him look unhinged, because he is. Second, this is part of a long line of social media rants by the President that he never actually follows up on, so he looks weak. Trump is a man who sees all of this crime and corruption, yet he is powerless to do anything about it as the President of these United States. If the Democrats are actually guilty of a crime, then quietly ask the Justice Department to file charges without ranting on social media.
Yes, this is part of a long pattern with Trump. He will rant and rave about how people need to be executed or locked up, people react with “horror” (much of that is performative pearl-clutching) and then he does absolutely nothing about it. But Trump is not a reality show celebrity or in a featured match at WrestleMania where he can deliver a clothesline to Vince McMahon. Donald Trump is the President of these United States, and he needs to start acting like it. Obviously, Republicans in Congress are not going to have the courage to call him out publicly, but for his own good both they and Trump’s closest advisors should privately press him to be more disciplined.
All of this is such needless drama. President Trump needs to put his phone away and allow his public statements to be filtered through people who know how to message effectively. Trump is doing many good things, and he would be wise to focus on policy wins instead of doing exactly what the Democrats want him to do. Yes, I know that none of this will ever happen, but it is still worth pleading for sanity.
