I agree wholeheartedly. The party is getting geriatric an cranky in a way designed to put off Monroe County residents of good will who might be persuadable. Donald Trump has been a malign influence on the party in myriad ways, starting with driving civility from our national and local debates. His disregard for the truth and promoting of malicious conspiracy mongers has confounded understanding and fostered delusions in his followers. I hope that our local college Republicans have resisted this siren song. Things have gone so far that I doubt I'll live long enough to see the party in a healthier and more civic-minded state.

This article is absolutely spot-on! William Ellis did a great job, but the party seemed to be starving for support and activism because too many conservatives thought things were too hopeless to invest in. That combined with wealthy folks (who I know could afford it) were putting their money in counter-productive organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, instead getting behind good candidates or investing in party growth. The C of C is not our friend, folks.
